Why being a girl is so much work!

heey,
So as you can tell by the name of this post it is something slightly different... Basically I'm still ill and couldn't sleep last night so I was just thinking and was like 'it's so much effort to be a girl', so I thought I'd share with you why I think this and I'm sure you'll agree with me by the end of this post...

SKIN ROUTINE - Every time I'm reading a magazine and flip the page over to see another beautiful clear-skinned model advertising a facial wash, my heart sinks. Can't they use someone with not perfect skin? Therefore us girls and women can sometimes feel pressured to have perfect skin, I know I do! Therefore each night I spend at least 20mins washing, steaming, exfoliating (not every night), moisturising. it's so much effort just for clear skin. I will never stop due to the fact I do not want worse skin but its just alot of effort. When I come home late or I'm tired I can never be bothered but I know I have to.

HAIR ROUTINE -  Washing your hair is necessary for personal care and health reasons. No one wants greasy, smelly hair. But say you forget to wash your hair the night before and don't have time in the morning, suddenly its world war 3 with your hair. You go to school and you hear people whispering 'did you see the grease on her hair' or 'you could fry chips in that!', and believe me I've heard that being said (not personally to me thankfully), but no one wants that.

BODY ROUTINE - When I'm in the shower or bath, sometimes I really just can't be bothered to do all the exfoliating or moisturising. But then you get that voice in the back of your head like 'you must do it' or 'think of that bikini model with perfect skin' and then you end up wasting 10 minutes of your precious life devoted to exfoliating and moisturising and washing, but it's something some of us girls feel pressurised to do. But of course washing is necessary to maintain a healthy regime.

(sorry for the flash)
MAKEUP ROUTINE - aaaahhh makeup, sometimes a relaxingly process other times a stressful rush in the morning. We all get those days when we just can't be bothered, we just don't want to do anything and want to use that extra time in bed. But we feel as though we have to, at school if you don't go in wearing makeup like you usually do its all 'omg, you look so different' or 'woa, I never thought you looked like that!'. For me makeup can take from 10minutes to 30 minutes. Sometimes I'll still be half asleep doing my makeup, then wake up more and realise I look like I've just come out of 'towie', then you have to start all over again. Nowadays I think theres so much more pressure to wear makeup and look a certain way, so therefore you feel as though you have to wear makeup.

HAIR STYLING - Once again we've all had those days when we wake up and look in the mirror to see a messy, lioness main on our heads. We try for hours to get it perfect using every product, every time of heat possible to tame it and it still doesn't look right. Or you've tried out a previous hairstyle the night before and thought 'yes, that looks nice I'll do that tomorrow.' then obviously your hair hears that and thinks 'no, I'm going to mess up her hair in the night so it doesn't work..'. So that morning you wake up feeling great and attempt to do that hairstyle and you just can't do it. Then your stressed and panicking as you have to be out of the door in 2 minutes and your hair looks like you've been attacked by a bear. Hair styling is something I love to do, yet I find it takes so much time, I just resort back to the messy bun or ponytail, or just down! It can be so relaxing but at other times incredibly stressful. Couldn't we have just all been born without hair, it would have been such and easier, equal world...

So that's why I think it's so much work being a girl. I left out clothing choices accidentally, clothing choices is a whole new level of stress anyway! Some people may not agree with what I've written but this is just my personal opinion and I'm not saying that everyone is like this!
I hope you enjoyed reading this, and I hope you will follow and comment as I love reading all your comments! If you have any ideas for posts, or any stories of your stressful mornings leave them in the comments and I'll reply asap!
Love Ellie x
