IS MINERAL MAKEUP WORTH THE HYPE? ft. Sheer cover!

Mineral makeup has always been something I've wanted to try. So when Sheer Cover recently contacted me about their Sheer cover studio blogging challenge and whether I would like to participate in a one week mineral makeup tox, I would have been stupid not to!
The kit they sent me included 3 makeup brushes, a mineral foundation, concealer, bronzer, mascara and lash extending fibres.

The brushes*
My first impressions were that they weren't as dense as I was used to, especially the face brushes. There was a powder/blush brush, contouring brush and a concealer/eye shadow brush. My favourite was definitely the concealer/eye brush, it applied both eye shadow and concealer evenly and smoothly. Although the powder/blush and contouring brush were nice to use as well.

Mineral foundation*
I have always seen so many people rave about mineral foundations and was so excited to see whether I would love it just as much. My first impressions were mixed. I am one of those people who like the see the result straight away, and I felt as though it wasn't really doing much. But when I stepped back and had a look, I loved it. The coverage and colour match was perfect for my skin and it looked so natural but covered all of my redness and spots. I was very pleased also with how long it stayed on my face and how fresh it kept looking throughout the day. The thing that impressed me most about this foundation was how matte it kept my face. I have very oily skin which is a pain, but this foundation kept my skin matte for longer than my L'Oreal True Match (which is impressive). I wouldn't recommend this if you have dry skin or like a more dewy finish, but if you love a matte finish or suffer with annoying oily skin, you should try this asap.

Concealer*
Once again I am very impressed. I wasn't expecting much when I first saw it, as I have been a religious user of my Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer and nothing has ever stopped me using it. Unfortunately for my Collection concealer it hasn't got any use this week, as I have fallen in love with this concealer. The coverage is perfect and covers my spots without looking cakey, it stays on all days and hasn't creased under my eyes once. I use the second lightest shade under my eyes, the darkest shade on my spots and the lightest one to highlight my brow bone occasionally.

Bronzer*
This was my only real disappointment of the one week mineral tox. It wasn't very pigmented at all and was quite chalky if I'm honest. I wouldn't recommend this if you're looking to try find a new bronzer.

Lengthening mascara*
I love mascara. It is a fact. So when I saw this my heart skipped a few beats. When I looked at it a little bit closer I saw that it was lengthening and I was a bit disappointed as I love voluminous lashes. But... this mascara did not end up disappointing me. It does both, surprise surprise. It makes my lashes look a billion times longer and thicker, I also love that it seems to 'curl' my lashes.

Lash extending fibres*
This puzzled me for days...was it meant to go on before mascara? after mascara? during the application? But when Becca from www.beccasfashionandlife.co.uk enlightened me on the fact that it was meant to go on in between coats of mascara, I thought it wouldn't make much of a difference. I was wrong. It makes your already full and long lashes go to fuuuuulllll and loooooooooong lashes (ya get me?). I will never not apply this in between coats now. If you're looking to really make your lashes look incredible, try it. You will not regret it, because if I could buy everyone a tube of this I would.

Overall this week where I said goodbye to my usual makeup and instead converted to mineral makeup has introduced me to some amazing products which will now become some of my holy grail products.

This week was the week a leather jacket was added to my wardrobe. I am officially happy. I have been searching for at least 4 months to find the perfect one. I found it. H&M is the place of gorgeous leather jackets, that is that. I will be doing a blog post about it at some point, so I'll shut up about it...for now.
I am currently sat in the most unfashionable outfit. One massive Lewis Mokler tshirt + those ugly £3 primark shorts + plain black socks = fashion role model. Joking of course. The second I get home I change into the comfiest clothes possible, then I feel as though I can continue with my evening. Today was no exception, I went out in the morning with my family and then we went for a long walk in this gorgeous weather at a local park which was filled with daffodils and the most adorable toddlers playing in the parks. I hope you all had a wonderful Sunday.

  3. I haven't tried Sheer Cover before but I love mineral make up. I started using it a couple of years ago and now most of my make-up is mineral make-up.
